Trying to generate a ranking system that ranks films according to 4 criteria; a) strength of the film; b) age of the film, with favor being given to more recent films; c) the overall strength of the director’s best 10 films, and d) median date of the directors 10 best films.
The idea is to lean away from films that have been in the “Ten Best Films Ever Produced” and towards more recent works. There are some flaws in the system, as anyone who looks closely will see, but it is at least interesting. Here’s the top 100, after every director in film history whose last name begins with “A” or “B” has been assessed.
