Born and raised in France to immigrant parents, Luchini’s the centerpiece of a number of important French films in a career that spans 40 years. During the first half of his career, he normally landed supporting roles as a character actor; in the last 20 years he’s been recognized as a star of French cinema who never gained much acclaim outside of western Europe.
